It’s common for a windshield to sustain a lot of damage over the years. Even if the damage doesn’t appear to be very much, little chips can weaken the glass quite a bit. This will make it more likely for your windshield to fully crack or even shatter under pressure.
Many drivers are not even aware of all the damage to their glass. This is because many chips are so small that they cannot be easily seen upon first glance. It’s important to have your windshield inspected at least once a year to determine if there is any damage that needs to be addressed.
